Dicho iPhone low-cost estaría equipado con un chip Qualcomm Snapdragon en lugar de los chipsets fabricados por Apple que utilizan el resto de los iDevices. Según analistas de "China Times" que citan fuentes anónimas, éste iPhone usaría los chipsets Snapdragon de 28 Nanómetros, que la empresa TSMC comenzaría a fabricar pronto.
La razón por la que los chipsets de Qualcomm son más económicos, es porque integran Wi-Fi y Bluetooth directamente en el chip principal a diferencia de los de Apple. Sin embargo este dispositivo no ofrecerá tecnología LTE y únicamente conectividad 3G.
